Readable JSON, with immediate feedback
JSON is a text format used to exchange data between applications. It supports objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans, and null. A compact API response can be difficult to read because all of that structure may be compressed onto one line. Formatting adds indentation and line breaks so you can follow nested objects and spot the values you need. The data is parsed locally while you type, with the formatted result in a separate pane.
Paste your text into the input pane. Valid JSON immediately produces an indented result. Turn on Minify to remove optional spacing from that result, then use Copy or Download JSON to take it into another application. Your input stays editable and is not replaced by the output. This matters when you are fixing an incomplete document: you can finish a quotation mark or bracket without the editor moving everything around.
When parsing fails, the tool reports the parser message with a line and column. Start at that location and also check the preceding character. A missing comma often causes an error at the next property, rather than at the missing comma itself. JSON requires double quotes for keys and strings, does not permit trailing commas, and does not support comments. JavaScript object literals are not necessarily valid JSON.
Validation here checks JSON syntax. It does not check your application schema, required business fields, or whether a URL or email address is meaningful. Formatting uses JavaScript number handling: integers beyond the safe integer range can lose precision, and repeated object keys collapse to the final value. Keep identifiers as strings and retain the original source when exact numeric representation or duplicate keys matter. Avoid pasting secrets into shared devices even though this tool processes the text locally.

Is a single number valid JSON?
Yes. A JSON document can be a primitive value, not just an object or array.
Does minifying encrypt my data?
No. It only removes optional whitespace. Anyone with the result can still read the values.
Why are comments rejected?
Comments belong to other formats such as JSONC. Standard JSON does not include them.
