Resize a photo by pixels and file size
A photo upload usually has several independent requirements: image format, width, height and file size. Changing the width alone does not guarantee a small enough file. This photo resizer lets you enter all of those limits together, then checks the resulting copy. Start with a JPG, PNG or WebP file of up to 20 MB. Processing happens in your browser, so your picture stays on your device.
Choose your photo, enter the required width and height in pixels, and select JPG or PNG output. Fit whole image preserves the edges and adds white padding when the aspect ratios differ. Center crop fills the entire frame by cutting away edges. For a portrait, inspect the face and shoulders in the prepared preview before downloading. This tool does not remove backgrounds or certify that a photo meets official identity-document rules.
As an example, if a form asks for a 300 by 400 pixel JPG between 20 and 50 KB, enter those dimensions, choose JPG, and set the minimum to 20 and maximum to 50. Those numbers are only an example: use the actual instructions on your application. Select Prepare & check to see which requirements pass. File sizes here use 1 KB = 1,024 bytes; another website may measure them differently.
JPG quality can be reduced to try to fit the maximum size. PNG preserves pixels without JPG compression artifacts, but may produce a larger file. A simple image may remain below a requested minimum even at high quality; the tool does not add artificial padding. If a target cannot be met, the checklist says so and lets you download a candidate for review. Keep the original photo and open the downloaded copy before submitting it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize a photo to 50 KB?
Set Maximum size to 50 KB and enter your required dimensions. Whether the target is possible depends on the image and format; check the measured result.
Will this enlarge a blurry photo?
It can increase pixel dimensions, but cannot restore detail that was not in the original.
Which format should I choose?
Use the format the receiving form requests. JPG is often smaller for photos; PNG may suit flat graphics.
Can I use this without uploading my photo?
Yes. Resizing and previews are processed locally in your browser.
